Red carpet season officially kicked off with the 2016 Golden Globes, and while it’s really just eye candy for most of us, who don’t have fancy red carpet-style occasions to wear gowns to/designers sending us said gowns, there’s something about red carpet fashion that just ignites my inner fashion girl and makes me giddy with excitement. I mean, there’s really nothing better than a show filled with gorgeous gowns. This year’s Golden Globes were all about the elegance.  Minimalistic, modern, figure-flattering gowns in red and black, princess gowns in rich jewel towns, and floaty chiffon numbers in romantic shades — there was a lot to love. Kirsten Dunst’ is a welcome return to the red carpet — I always love seeing what she’s wearing, and she didn’t disappoint in a black cutout gown. The Danish Girl star Alicia Vikander was hands down one of my fave in a simple white gown with a hint of side boob that flattered her slender frame and just felt so modern and elegant (I know I can’t stop saying elegant, but seriously, it was the buzzword of the night). The subtle ruffles added the perf amount of femininity, while the cross back was sexy but also so on-trend. And the pleats made the sparkly finish of her Louis Vuitton gown feel subtle and fresh. Laverne Cox also blew me away with her elegant (I’m just embracing the word guys so sorry but I’m not going to stop) white high neck gown — an update on ’90s chic that I loved. While I’m not a huge sparkle girl, I loved Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s stunning gold gown.

Ooops how did this gorgeous specimen get here? But seriously, can we talk about how hot Outlander’s Sam Heughan get there?
