We’re finally getting a taste of spring and it feels like we can officially pack the heavy coats and snow boots away. But dressing for this in-between seasons whether can be tricky, especially when it seems like every day is a different temperature and climate. And really, half the days it goes from hot to cold to hot to cold. To help you get through this tricky dressing period when the weather is warm but not that warm, sunny then rainy, and just all over the place, here’s some inspo to help you figure out how to transition your wardrobe from winter to spring.
First though, I wanted to share some tips for how to transition your wardrobe from winter to spring:
Layer: In early spring, the weather changes fast, so I love to layer up. A sweater over a dress with a lightweight jacket for good measure. Jeans with a t-shirt, sweater, and jacket. You get the idea.
Opt for Closed Toe Shoes: Hold on the sandals until the weather really warms up. Your feet will easily get cold when the temps dip and they tend to throughout the day this time of year. Plus, it can be slushy and rainy and muddy in early spring, so I always opt for loafers, ballet flats, sneakers or lightweight ankle boots.
Embrace Lighter Hues: Even if it’s still sweater weather, you can dress for the spring, by incorporating lighter colors like pastels and creams.
Bring Out Those White Jeans: I love to wear white jeans this time of year, because it instantly makes any outfit, no matter how layered, feel for spring-y and fresh. In fact, swapping blue jeans for white jeans is the easiest way to figure out how to transition your wardrobe from winter to spring.
Ditch the Heavy Textures: Put away the wool and velvet and heavy puffer jackets and lighten up your fabrics. Cashmere and chunky knits still work during this in-between weather but trying pairing them with spring-ier items like a floral skirt or white jeans.
