It’s the LBD of summer, and it’s basically all I want to wear in summer. Seriously. Whenever I’m doing some summer shopping, I always end up with a bunch of white dresses in my shopping bag. Which is problematic considering I can’t go five minutes without spilling when wearing white, and oh yeah, there’s all those summer wedding that I can’t wear white to. So yeah there’s that. But a white dress is just so crisp, clean and fresh in summer, and an instant ticket to chic. You can go all-out on the accessories, but you can also just throw on flip flops, and look polished and stylish. That no-effort factor is what makes the LWD my fave, because, simply put, I’m lazy. But I think the other reason I love the LWD so much is because it’s the perfect answer to my style ADD. Every few months, there’s a different look, style icon, vibe, etc. I’m feeling, and suddenly it’s all I want to dress like, and anything in my closet that doesn’t work, I want nothing to do with anymore. And when it comes to the printed and trendy styles I was so obsessed with I HAD to have, after one season, I am so over them, I can’t even force myself to wear them again, sometimes for years when they’re a happy rediscovery. (Don’t you love when that happens? When you find an old trendy piece you totally splurged on and then went out the next season just sitting in the back of your closet, and it’s like retro and you get tons of compliments again and your buyer’s remorse disappears and you’re like yeah, I totally knew I found a gem and made a wise purchase. Props to me! Anyway, I digress…) The point is that a LWD is so versatile that it can fit any style or occasion (except for weddings and wedding-related celebrations — my advice, just avoid white for any wedding-related event). With gladiator sandals, it has a breezy, boho vibe; with black sandals and a structured tote, it’s minimalist chic; with metallic heels and a statement necklace, it’s glam and party ready… You get the point.
