They might not seem like the most practical, but it’s all about bright white shoes right now. Back in the day (my day (yes I’m a grandma)), you worked to get your brand new kicks dirty because the bright white new shoe look was so not cool, but it’s the opposite now. While I am not About to try to keep my Stan Smiths from getting a smidge of dirt on them to be cool (who has time for that), that’s basically a requirement to pulling off the bright white shoe trend. The unexpected brightness of the clean white is meant to pop against your outfit and make a bold, modern statement. Although I’m dubious on its practicality for dirty old New York, I love a crisp white ankle boot as an alternative to your basic black and brown boots for fall. They’re more versatile than colors and prints, less flashy than metallics, and fit with that sleek, minimalist look I’m all about. They were all over the streets of fashion month, from NYFW to PFW, offering plenty of inspiration for wearing this fall shoe trend.
