Fall shopping is my favorite kind of shopping. Even though I’m not heading back to school, it always feels like a new beginning and a perfect time to refresh my wardrobe and show off the new me. This fall I feel like starting fresh for my style. It’s been a year since I had James and I finally feel like working out again and getting my act together in part because I want to get in sick shape before bebe deux. I am also finding myself leaning toward a new style — more feminine and slightly softer and a lot more stain-proof. I’m excited to feel chic and like myself again. I’d also like to think I’ve gotten smarter about shopping. Pregnancy really taught me to buy less and to be smarter with my purchases and about the power of a few really good items worn over and over again, which is how I’m focusing my fall shopping. I’m looking for a couple statement dresses, one for a few events we have to go to this fall and one to live in at work. I’m also excited to invest in the perfect statement coat in a classic leopard print, something I”ve been coveting forever and J.Crew has brought to life at the perfect price point. Statement earrings, a couple pairs of classic kicks —a heel and a flat that can go from work to weekend — and some sweaters and jeans that’ll take my basics to the next level. Basically my whole goal is to buy a handful of items things that will make a statement every time I wear them and that I’ll be excited to wear to death this fall and winter bring back in rotation again and again over the years.
