I fellĀ for the over-the-knee boot trend as soon as I saw it. It was at once sexy and fashion-forward and yet practical, adding an extra layer of protection whenĀ it’s freezing out and you’re onlyĀ wearing tights. Ā This season, that extra layer of protection (along with itsĀ sexiness factor) is going up, up, up. The thigh-high boot may only be a few inches taller, but those few inches pack a lot of punch. They up the hotness factor of any outfit dramatically, and offer you a few extra inches of windchill protection, making it possible to wear minis and even long sweaters as dresses as it gets colder.Ā But there’s a reason why we’ve had to work our way up to the thigh-high boot ā it’sĀ hard to shake its Pretty Woman, or as my husband calls them “hooker boot,” roots. The trick? While your legs may be covered up by the boots, treat themĀ like a short mini, and balance out the sexy-factor byĀ keeping the rest of your outfit fairly covered-up (i.e., avoid low-cut tops and Ā crop tops unless you’re Kylie Jenner, and then you can wear whatever you want.
