We all heard Gen Z announce that skinny jeans are out, and while I have never been the biggest fan of skinny jeans, many of my millenial counterparts protested the news. Skinny jeans have dominated our denim wardrobes for what feels like a decade now. While I don’t think any denim style is ever truly out (and skinny jeans will always have their place in any wardrobe — what else will you tuck into boots?), there’s never been a better time to mix up your denim wardrobe and try some new silhouettes. Personally, I love flare jeans right now — they’re super flattering, making your legs look a million miles long. The best part is, unlike other silhouettes, you don’t have to stress over how to style flare jeans. It’s actually really simple, because they basically look good with anything.
You can really have fun with proportions. Try them with a sweater or top that hits at the waist, or try a longer tunic and a heel for a really lengthening look. I love tucking in a tee or button-up and adding some platforms — it’s very ’70s chic. I almost always wear flare jeans with platforms or heels to further the elongating effect. However, you can also get your tailored and pair them with fun sneakers for a casual look. If you’re looking to swap your skinnies for flare jeans, but debating if you can pull it off, these street style examples will prove you can.
Here are my favorite ways to style flare jeans.
