Your mom probably warned you never to wear a short skirt to work, but you can throw that piece of 1960s fashion wisdom out the door, along with the other old and dated fashion rules. Above-the-knee hemlines are hot this season and in certain (the key word being certain — I don’t want to get blamed for any HR infractions) offices, they can be totally work appropriate — when paired with the right tops and footwear. The trick for how to wear mini skirts to work is to keep your heel low, and/or use tights and boots to add extra coverage below the waist. Then on top, stick to more conservative necklines and more buttoned-up tops to balance out the leggier look. Of course, micro minis will never be office appropriate, at least imo, so my recommendation is to stick to a skirt cut justttttt above the knee or that hits right at the knee. With that said, there are certain offices and types of work where mini skirts just won’t fly, so before I get blamed for any dress code violations (are dress codes for the office still a thing? I find them sexist but I digress…), read the room and the occasion. I am a firm believer in wearing what you want and not dictating what women should wear, but, the world doesn’t always work that way, and sometimes it’s worth it to follow the office dress code to keep the focus on work … at least until you work your way up to the C suite and can rewrite the rules. But I, of course, work in a creative industry where you sometimes see a crop top or sheer top, so mini skirts are everywhere right now, so I thought I’d share how I am wearing mini skirts right now — and some chic options to cop for the office or frankly, wherever (these looks are pretty versatile).
Skirt; Sweater (under $60!); Shoes (old but similar here)

My work requires us to wear pants, but I hate wearing them can you suggest any alternatives for me. I don’t have any religious exemption either.

I love maxi dresses and midi dresses with boots in winter. Can you get away with a longer skirt/dress? There are also looser wide leg pants that feel more like a dress and could work when paired with a tucked-in blouse or jacket
