I love watching James and Charlotte and now Brooks grow and develop, and it’s easier in some ways not to have to carry them everywhere, but I miss the days of being able to go outside and have them just be content chilling in the stroller or carrier. Running after little kids all day is exhausting. With spring fever at a high, I’m also eager to get out of the house more so we’re trying to think of fun spring activities for toddlers and babies to take advantage of now that the weather is getting nicer.
It’s hard when you are sleep deprived to motivate to do anything on weekends, but I find kids are more likely to nap and the days are much more fun and honestly, easier to handle when we’re out and about. Plus, as they say, the days are long but the years are short and as a working mom, weekends tend to feel like they go by too quickly but are where I really get lots of quality time with the kiddos. I want to find ways to make the most them so that going back to work on Mondays is easier. So this spring, I’ve been trying to work ahead to make a list of fun spring activities for toddlers and babies that we want to do with the kids.
Here’s our list of spring activities for toddlers and babies that I’m hoping will get us out of the house and help us to make the most of the season. Let me know anything fun we should add that’s on ours. (We also have a spring bucket list here if you’re looking for more spring activities to do as a family.)
Park
Zoo
Museums
Hikes
Bike Rides
Botanical Gardens
Runs
Painting and Sidewalk Chalk
Walking Dakota
Exploring New Towns
Bubbles
This is so simple, but the kids love to blow bubbles. We also have a bubble machine we’ll run for them and let them (and Dakota) chase after and pop the bubbles. It does eat a ton of bubble juice though so the fun runs out fast.Lacrosse, Tennis, Swim Lessons and Hockey
I’m filling up our weekends with activities now that James is old enough to play in organized sports. I find having somewhere to go and something to do is really helpful on weekends. It cuts down on how much of the weekend you need to fill with activities and it’s like a built-in playdate/energy burner that you don’t have to organize so it’s somewhat less exhausting. Poor Charlotte and Brooks typically have to be a spectator, which they don’t always love, so we end up chasing after them for most of these activities but it’s still getting everyone out of the house and running around… And this spring, Charlotte will be old enough to do swim lessons and give perhaps soccer a try.

Hello,
I am a marketing coordinator at the New York Botanical Garden. Your post came through our google alerts.
Just wanted to let you know that we have a Children’s Adventure Garden (link here: https://www.nybg.org/garden/childrens-adventure-garden/) as well as programming for children year round. Our gardens and indoor Conservatory are also reasonably child friendly.
I live in Carroll Gardens and love that street you are on by the way!
