In the winter, I’m all about chunky turtleneck sweaters. Boxy and slightly oversized, I love wearing them with everything from fitted ankle-pants and chelsea boots to mini skirts and even over maxi dresses. It’s an easy layering piece that can go from work to weekend and guarantees you’ll be warm and cozy. What more could you ask for, really? Here my favorite outfit ideas for how to wear a turtleneck sweater.

How to Wear a Maxi Dress in Winter
December 12, 2018One of my favorite parts about summer is that you can just throw on a breezy maxi dress and look instantly cute and put-together. Meanwhile, in winter, there’s really no such thing as throw on and go. Even if you’re going with my favorite go-to winter piece, the sweater dress, there’s tights to contend with, and then you’re still freezing because even with wool ones, they’re never that warm. That’s why I love wearing a maxi dress in winter. It’s long and breezy so you can layer leggings or heavy tights underneath or skip them altogether without freezing to death. Yes, layers under and/or over are still required, but unlike your standard short or even midi-dress, the floor length style makes them look instantly more dressed up and yet unexpected for everyday in winter. But you don’t need to buy a new set of maxi dresses for cold weather. Just follow these tips for how to style your fave maxi dresses for winter.

How To Wear a Dress Over Pants (Without Looking Like an Idiot)
July 14, 2018Wearing a dress over pants is one of those things fashion girls do that I used to feel like I could never pull off. But it’s actually pretty practical — it looks chic, keeps your legs warmer than tights (minus the risk of runs), gives dresses that cool tomboy contrast, and extends your wardrobe by essentially turning a dress into a top or jacket. I find a picture is worth a thousand words, so I just like to copy these cool examples of how to wear a dress over pants.

25 “Grown-Up” Ways To Wear A Denim Jacket
July 1, 2018It’s the classic summer topper, but a denim jacket always makes me feel so middle school every time I wear one. Which is why I always end up tossing my jean jacket on the floor along with the hundred outfits I’ve just tried on. But what always draws me to my trust old denim jacket is the fact that I know it’ll go with whatever I’m wearing, and adds a laid-back cool factor to balance out my go-to work dresses and skirts. But I’m starting to get inspired to get over my denim jacket hang-ups after seeing so many street stylers and celebs own the look lately. Deep thoughts right now, people. But maybe it’s still middle school and maybe that’s a good thing now? Kind of like normcore, but now it’s what’s childish is now chic. Or maybe the jean jacket loses its tweeny-bopper vibes when worn by a “grown up”. Or perhaps it’s just all about how you style a denim jacket that makes all the difference (probably). Seeing how these bloggers and street stylers style their denim jackets makes me want to break mine out again right now.

Yes, you can wear culottes and look cool. The trick to wearing culottes is to pick the right top; then treat them like any old pair of pants. You want a fitted shirt that’s cropped or that you can tuck in to balance out the wider silhouette of the pants. Here are my favorite ideas for how to wear culottes.

After seasons of skinnies, pant hems are getting wider and wider. I, for one, love a good pair of wide-leg pants. The more forgiving style is perfect for work with a tucked-in blouse, or with a fitted sweater. Stick to heels, especially if you’re petite, to keep the wide leg from swallowing you up. Here are some of my favorite ways to wear wide leg pants.
