I LOVE holidays, have I mentioned that? Legit, I’m obsessed. I blame my mom. She always went to town for the holidays, whether it was cooking up an elaborate Thanksgiving feast with more food than a small country could consume and a fun tablescape with festive gords, candles, and special Thanksgiving china to transforming our entire house into a winter wonderland for Christmas, complete with a ten-foot tree. Anyway, you could say it runs in the family. I’ve yet to host our own Thanksgiving, and probably won’t until we move out of NYC (an apartment isn’t really conducive to a long table and cooking a huge meal, and oh yeah, I can’t cook for shit). But maybe it’s the mom in me, or I’m getting old and boring, or I just really like tablescapes (another thing I”m obsessed with ever since I worked for a wedding magazine and planned my own wedding). They’re just so beautiful. So this year, I”m pulling inspo from across the web for gorgeous tablscapes to help quench my desire to decorate my own 🙁 It’s actually making me think that maybe I’ll try my own fun Friendsgiving dinner at our apartment so I can incorporate some of these festive ideas. I mean how hard could cooking a Thanksgiving meal really be? No need to answer. I can already see my mom’s eyes rolling.
What do you think though, seriously: Do I need to wait until I have a grownup house in the burbs to host a Thanksgiving party? Which tablescape is your favorite? Are you doing anything special for Thanksgiving this year?
