We finally got away for a week at the lake, and it was just what the doctor (or universe, really) ordered. We hadn’t really taken a real vacation since Covid began, and we really needed it. I was really stressed about traveling and flying in particular, so we decided to just head to the lake for the weekend. I felt safer driving than flying, and we didn’t need to worry about hotels or eating out, so we could just relax and not have to make tons of decisions about what’s worth the risk/safe/not safe. James had the best time and while the kids didn’t give me much sleep, it was nice to check out for a few days. Funnily enough, I found that I actually missed packing and planning summer vacation outfits. I know a lot of you are planning your own trips and going to lake houses and beaches, so I thought I’d share what I wore for our summer vacation at the lake.
I threw in some dresses and other cute summer outfits in case I felt like wearing something other than our usual summer vacation outfits — i.e., bathing suits and shorts. While we spent most of the days in our swimsuits or workout clothes, it was fun to get everyone a little dressed up at night, even if we were just going down to the dock for cocktails or bbq-ing. I don’t know, but sometimes it makes everything feel more festive.
Here’s what I wore for our summer vacation at the lake.
