Sometimes short weeks feel like the longest week, right? I finally feel like I’m getting into the swing of things and my new normal, aka being a commuting working mom of two. It’s A Lot. It’s not that it wasn’t before, but I see now why having kids in school is a full time job itself – the coordinating of activities, play dates, lessons and classes, clothes, items to bring for show and tell, performances to attend and everything else is overwhelming. Plus, there’s the newborn and all the pumping and power nursing just to keep her fed. And then there’s work – which is always busy but then there’s the catching up and all the new stuff. Where was I going with this? No idea.
I guess it’s my way of saying I’m tired, grateful it’s the weekend, and yes, there are a lot of outfit repeats here, but I think it’s helpful to see that? I find it more realistic to see how people wear and re-wear clothes rather than a totally new outfit to buy each day. Realistically if you’re going to buy a dress, you want to wear it a bunch, right? When it come to getting dressed, I just need easy outfits that look put together and chic and can work if I’m pulled into a big meeting but that I don’t have to think about when getting dressed. Hence, this week’s outfit theme: dresses. And hence, why you’ll see me rewearing the same things over and over. It’s actually something you see a lot of in fashion and that I learned from other fashion editors, but before I started in the industry, I would have thought that fashion editors wore something new every day (they do not). Many are busy working moms who rely on uniforms and easy to throw on looks like the rest of us.
One more disclaimer: I know these pics aren’t the best. I haven’t figured out a way to squeeze in outfit pics just yet and my husband leaves a lot earlier than me these days, but I’m working on it. Do you still find these helpful? Do you like these posts or do you prefer something else? Let me know! I do them bc people said they liked them and I love swimming what other people are wearing to work (though they’re helping me to step up my game too).
Here’s what I wore this week.
