I don’t know about you, but my mailbox is filling up with invitations to baby showers and sprinkles. I feel like everyone I know is having a baby these days, or maybe it’s just me? Personally, I love to celebrate a mom-to-be. Baby showers and sprinkles are always such joyous events. There are usually fun games, yummy food and treats, and it’s a perfect excuse to wear a pretty outfit. I’ve come to really appreciate what a miracle a healthy pregnancy and new baby through my own journey and it’s made these types of events all the more special (not that there haven’t been times when it’s been hard to celebrate expectant mom friends when we’ve been struggling to grow our own family). But figuring out what to wear to a baby shower as a guest can be tricky. You want to look appropriate and festive without upstaging the mama or looking like you are heading to a wedding. Usually, they’re daytime affairs so you want to strike that happy medium of dressed-up but not too formal.
Baby showers and sprinkles are such happy, celebratory occasions so I like to wear something that’s really pretty and festive but still feels polished. I usually opt for a pretty dress or skirt with either nice flats or heels. If you’re more of a pants person, you can make it work too. Just add a nice blouse and/or blazer on top. Generally, I’d avoid jeans — except for maybe white jeans if the vibe is super casual and you add a nice jacket and heels but otherwise, I prefer to stay away from denim. If you’re heading out to celebrate some moms to be soon, here are some of my favorite ideas for for what to wear to a baby shower as a guest. And if you’re going to a bunch of weddings this year, here are ideas for what to wear to a spring wedding, summer wedding, fall wedding and winter wedding.
