Spring and summer are no longer the pinnacle of wedding season. Fall is quickly becoming one of the most popular times of year to wed, and that means, you don’t get a break from the traveling, showering, toasting, gifting, and dressing. Fall weddings are always particularly hard to dress for I’ve found because the weather always seems to be either unseasonably warm or cool, and it can be hard to predict. While warm temps can be a blessing for couples who plan outdoor festivities, it makes dressing for them hard. You don’t want to look too summery but you also don’t want to sweat to death in lace, velvet, or other heavier fabrics that come with fall formalwear. And if it’s chilly, you don’t want to freeze to death for outdoor ceremonies and cocktail hours, but if you’re like me, you also don’t want to have to break out the tights too soon.
To help take the guessing work out of fall wedding guest dressing, here’s your ultimate guide for what to wear for every type of autumn wedding.
