The office holiday party is always the hardest to dress for in my opinion. You want to look festive and a little extra glam, but you also want to be appropriate and profesh. Holiday parties are the perfect opportunity to bond with your coworkers and rub elbows with the powers to be, so you want to wear something that sends the right message — I’m a boss (or rockstar) but approachable and fun. Okay, yes, that’s totally overthinking it, and I usually end up just using our holiday party as an excuse to buy something I’ve been lusting after, like this timeless dress, so I don’t mean to stress you out over finding the perfect office holiday party outfit. But it is a great opportunity for networking and building relationships at the office, so I always like to dress to impress.
I’ve really been all about the statement dress as of late, and I love one that has a sophisticated silhouette and longer hemline, but has a little something to keep it from feeling dowdy. I love things like a hint of glitz, feathers or bows to make it feel festive without screaming holiday dress, so you can wear it all season and don’t come off as cheesy. For something that involves bosses and coworkers, I suggest something that’s not too tight or body-hugging. I also think a suit in a cool fabric (velvet, silk) or pattern (loving brocade rn) or color (loving a deep burgundy) makes for an ideal office holiday party outfit. I work in fashion, so I’ll often step it up a notch with a fur vest and heeled boots or a great pair of heels. If you’re struggling to find an office holiday party outfit, I’ve also rounded up my favorite suggestions.
