Full disclosure: I would never spend $1600 on a shirt. I just wouldn’t. This shirt had me contemplating it for a sec, and tbh, if it dropped down to like $500, I’d consider it, but I’m just never going to spend that much on a single item of clothing. I won’t love it forever, because I’m too fickle, and honestly, I couldn’t deal with the anxiety I’d feel wearing it and trying not to spill or ruin it. With that said, this shirt is so amazing and I’m so in love with it, that for a second I started doing the fashion math justification — like why don’t I just buy one top for the whole rest of summer instead of a bunch. But first of all, that doesn’t really work because it’s not like I’m going to wear this every day, and also, even if I bought a bunch of new shirts this summer, they wouldn’t add up to $1600 (at least I hope not but maybe that’s why I never do the math on my cumulative purchases). But honestly, this shirt is the first ever that actually has me contemplating it and the more I see on some of my fave bloggers like Luella & June and Atlantic-Pacific, the more I want/need it to be mine, especially now that it’s been knocked down to $1000 on Net-a-Porter’s sale. I can’t stop imagining how chic I’d look wearing it, the compliments I’d get, the vacations I’d have to plan simply to wear it. Ok, I need to stop talking about this before I actually click to buy and have an existential crisis over whether to keep or return it. But I mean, the ribbon neck tie, the pattern, the ruffle. How good is this shirt?! And also, why can’t I find one like it for less?
