We just got back from an amazing trip to France. We combined a birthday trip and a friend’s wedding into one truly unforgettable getaway, that happened to be our first real trip away together without the kids. This may not sound like the biggest deal, but considering James is six and half years old, it was a huge deal for us, or at least me lol. Luckily, our trip did not disappoint and despite flight delays and a stomach bug, we had the best time. I even converted Andrew to being a fan of the French, increasing our chances of returning together soon (I hope). I got lots of questions re: what to wear in Paris in the summer, so I thought I would pull together a post with everything I wore to help (also, here is my Paris packing list in case it helps). I have also been getting so many link requests and it was hard to keep up while we were away. I saved as many as I could to my highlights, but I think it’s helpful to have everything in one place as a reference so here’s a blog post with everything I wore in Paris and Chantilly (which is a magical town outside of Paris where the wedding took place).
When it comes to figuring out what to wear in Paris in the summer, I recommend sticking to a neutral color palette and bringing layers. When we went, it was quite hot for most of the time and we were walking everywhere, but then in the mornings and evenings it could get cooler. And one of the days I was there was more of a jeans type weather situation, so it can really vary. But I really stuck with pieces I could mix and match easily and wear and re-wear since I was doing multiple changes a day — one thing for breakfast and morning activity, lunch and afternoon outfit and then something for late evening dinner and activity. You could most certainly skip the multiple outfit changes, but it’s been awhile since I’ve had time to get ready and to wear nice clothes without worrying about someone spilling on them while traveling, so I leaned in. With that said, I was tight on packing space and so really squeezed out as much as I could out of the pieces I brought.
Here’s my guide for what to wear in Paris in the summer aka what I wore on our summer trip to Paris and Chantilly.
