After I had my first baby, I was pretty chill about losing the baby weight. I was focused on enjoying being with my baby and adjusting to life as a working mom. The second time around, I had high hopes of getting in the best shape of my life after having Charlotte. However, renovations and a move followed by a global pandemic and balancing work and watching two kids full-time put those plans on the back burner. And this time, I got to have a baby just a few months before summer, which is awesome because I get to spend the summer on mat leave, but not awesome because I have to be in a bathing suit only a couple months after giving birth. Yes, summer and bathing suit season is here and the abs I had dreamed of are nowhere to be seen. Hence, I’ve been doing a lot of research to find the best swimsuits to wear after having a baby.
There was a time in my life when I would have let the baby weight and just general postpartum body stop me from enjoying the pool and beach — I would have hid under a coverup. But I can’t wait to swim with the kids this summer now that our beaches and pools will be opening up and so many of the Covid restrictions will be gone. But that doesn’t mean I’m going to be rocking a teeny tiny bikini anytime soon. Enter: the postpartum bathing suit aka a forgiving suit that hides any post-pregnancy lumps and bumps, sucks you in, and offers enough coverage for swimming with your little one. After doing a ton of frankly heartbreaking and sometimes scary research of trying on way too many bathing suits, I’ve found the best swimsuits to wear after having a baby.
While I’m not ready to do a swimsuit try-on for you guys (trust me when I say it’s not pretty), I did find a bunch of flattering postpartum bathing suits that are great for after you’ve given birth, including a super flattering bikini that’s under $25(!!). Here are the best swimsuits to wear after having a baby.
