Although it seems like forever ago that James turned three (tear, and how do I now have a SIX year old?!), it really felt like the first year he actually understood Christmas and birthdays — and that we were on the kid birthday party circuit start — so I really invested a lot into finding the perfect three year old boy gifts. I sourced a ton of recs from other mom friends who I implicitly trust when I was shopping for three-year-old James’ birthday and Christmas, and I now have a good idea of what three year old boys are into and love to play with — and what they need (helmets!). With that said, I never find kids gifts particularly easy to pick out even though they’re definitely the most fun to shop for.
I don’t know why it’s so hard to shop for little kids, but I never know what to get my children or their peers. It’s probably because James is my first boy and Charlotte is my first girl. I mean, I can tell you exactly to get a one year old or two year old or newborn, etc, because I now know what toys, books and gear actually get used or played with, but I still find each new year a challenge and as they get older, they see what their peers are playing with and have more preferences, and it becomes harder to find toys and activities that will hold their interest. So if you’re struggling to pick out holiday or birthday gifts for your little one, you’re certainly not alone. To help, I’ve compiled a list of the best three year old boy gifts — all tried and tested by my own James and his friends.
