One of my favorite parts about the holidays (which is really everything, I’m that person) is the chance to get all festive and dress up for various holiday parties and celebrations. I find dressing for holiday parties to be relatively easy — you just find a cute festive dress to throw on and add heels or boots. But with everything we have going on this year, I haven’t had much time to shop for holiday dresses. As much as I love any excuse to buy a pretty dress, I try to steer away from anything that screams “holiday”, or I know I’ll wear it once and probably not again until the following year. That’s why I love this black holiday dress — with the puff sleeves and detailing it’s perfect for a holiday party, Christmas dinner or New Year’s Eve, but you can also wear it again after the holidays are over. Did I mention it’s under $70? Yep, seriously.
This will be our first holiday in the suburbs and we have a lot of holiday parties and events to get dressed up for, which is exciting (and also overwhelming). I’m wary of buying too much right now, as my body is still changing post-partum, and, I’d like to wait to buy a few cute items to wear to go back to work rather than a bunch of holiday dresses that, let’s face it, I won’t wear much after January 1. A black holiday dress is the perfect answer if you’re postpartum and want to look nice but want something that feels slimming and won’t show any milk or formula stains. It’s also perfect, if like me, you can’t stop eating all the Christmas cookies.
But why I’m really obsessed with this black holiday dress? It’s under $100! Yeah, click and buy immediately before it gets scooped up. The puffy sleeves and silhouette make it festive and fancy enough for all sorts of holiday parties. I also plan to dress it down for the office with flats or boots and maybe a jacket over the shoulders when I return to work. While I don’t typically think of black as being festive, this black holiday dress really is, and it’s a bit more of a light black/charcoal anyway. Plus, it’s far more flattering and versatile than sequins or red, and will hide stains easily, a must for any parties I attend with my kids.
