I know a lot of people gave up on New Year’s resolutions this year, but I’m finding that setting monthly and yearly goals has really been helping me accomplish what I want to do and move the needle on the bigger picture things I want to achieve. I shared my New Year’s resolutions for 2022 last month, and now I’m back sharing my monthly goals. I like to break down my larger objectives into smaller to-dos (if you will) that will help keep me on track. So I’m going to kick off 2022 by sharing my February 2022 monthly goals.
Even though 2022 has already proven itself to be an absolute dumpster fire so far, I’m not letting that stand in my way of creating the life I want. And I’m not wasting a year or a month of my family’s life. The kids are growing so fast and this time is so fleeting — I want to make the most of it, regardless of what’s happening in the world all around us. Yes, Omni and the absolute fatigue of parenting and honestly, just living through all this is making it hard to do much more than survive, I’m committed to not letting it overtake our lives and my goals and intentions for myself and my family.
This month, I’m focused on a mix of work-related milestones and focusing on family and making the most of our time together as a family of four before another one joins the mix in March. Here are my February 2022 monthly goals.
Post Two New Kind of Reels: I’ve started doing regular weekly reels of my week outfit roundups, but I want to expand my repertoire and try out different types of Reels. I just need to find the time, but I think two is reasonable to include in my February 2022 monthly goals.
Start Baby Prep: I’ve done nothing to prep for baby #3. I have felt really nervous about even acknowledging this pregnancy lest anything go wrong, but it’s time to start getting prepared. I want to take inventory of what we have already and what we need, so I can start washing and gearing up for what we’ll need.
Plan our February Break: James and Charlotte have a week off of school in February, and it kind of snuck up on me. I want to put together a game plan for that week. We’re debating trying to make a trip to Florida. I would love some warm weather and one last hurrah as a family of four, but it is getting close to my due date and we don’t know how Omni will look etc. If we don’t go, I want to see if we can take some time at lake or even just enjoy a few days away to somewhere within driving distance. I hate that it’s so hard to plan anything these days, but I would love for us to have at least a few extra days as a family to enjoy doing something fun together.
Workout 5 Days a Week: I’ve been really good about sticking to this in January so far, and I want to continue as part of my February 2022 monthly goals. Now by workout, I don’t mean anything too strenuous, but I am trying to move my body every day and stay active during this pregnancy.
Put Phone Away in the Mornings and After Work Until Kids go to Bed: I’m still working on this but it’s an important goal for me and I’m doing better at it.
Cook Two Meals: I swear, I’m going to learn to cook at least a few easy meals before the year is over. Making two is not that much. I find it’s just hard because the kids are always around and in the kitchen when I’m trying to cook and distracting me and I get frustrated and it just turns into a bad experience, but I’ve got to try or I’m just going to continue to feel bad about it. Please help and send me healthy family-friendly recipes.
Start Planning Out Content for After the Baby Arrives – Start by Mapping Out March, April and May Blog Content: I’ll be on maternity leave from work, but I don’t have anyone who can fill in on the blog and I don’t want to lose momentum. I’m hoping I can schedule out at least a month or so of content before the baby comes to help give me a cushion. Maybe too ambitious, but I’m already trying to work ahead so I can do it. To that end, I want to start by mapping out the next few months of blog content so I at least have a roadmap.
Read One Book: I know this is sad, but one seems all that is doable at this point in my life. Again, I want to read instead of watching TV every night. Let’s see how I do. I bought a couple books, which I think is a big step in the right direction.
Send Out Newsletter Each Week: I finally got my newsletter off the ground and running! Now I want to keep it up and send it out every week. Wish me luck!
Plan 1-2 Nights Away with the Hubs: We were supposed to go on a trip without the kids but that got pushed back and now we’re nervous to get stuck anywhere due to Omni, so I’m going to make this goal a little more manageable and see if we can do one or two nights away at a hotel in the area. Even just one night to go out and sleep in would be amazing.
Share Daily on Stories: I really want to work on growing my following and using more of Instagram’s tools. I love stories as a way to communicate with you guys each day, and I totally fell off the wagon. I’m going to try to be better at creating content on stories every day. Let me know what types of content you’d like to see. I’ll continue with my goals of posting to the feed daily and sharing my daily shopping finds, but let me know what else you like to see from the people you follow/what you’d like me to share.
Work on Improving Blog SEO: I really want to grow my audience via search on the blog. To that end, I want to explore better SEO optimizing tools as well as being more strategic about optimizing my current content. Please share any tips for anyone who runs a personal blog. I use Yoast SEO, but the free version — is it worth paying for the upgrade?
