Yep, I’m totally that mom that makes my husband and children wear matching family Christmas pajamas — and take lots of pics. And I’m not at all sorry about it. It’s adorable and sweet, and I birthed those babies goddammit not to mention picked out and wrapped all those Christmas presents, so I earned the right to make them wear adorable festive sleepwear and smile while doing it. Honestly, my kids love it — they think it’s fun to match, especially now that Brooks is in the equation, and even better when they get to match with mommy. So I’m going to hold onto that as long as I can because I know one day it will most certainly not be cool. It’s probably the worst for Andrew, but lucky for him, he usually gets to hide behind the camera while we take the pics. I did make him wear too tight red and green striped pajamas for our first Christmas with James and I think he’s scarred for life. I’m holding onto those pics for ransom if anything should ever go wrong. Just kidding (but no really, I do have them saved somewhere, jk he’s going to kill me lol).
I do think dressing your kids in matching family pajamas on Christmas Eve is the best mom hack. You know you’re going to take lots of pics and videos of the kids opening their gifts Christmas morning and it will be next to impossible to convince them to get dressed when they have new toys to play with, so dress them in super cute pajamas and then your Instas/TikToks/memories will be cuter and if you need to drag them to breakfast or family comes by, they’ll look cute enough to pass. I honestly would buy a million pairs of matching family Christmas pajamas, but since the timeline to wear them is so tight, I love investing in ones that are cute enough to wear before and after the holidays and to pass down for years to come. As you know, I’m obsessed with Lake Pajamas in general and have upgraded my sleepwear wardrobe since getting my first pair a couple years ago for Mother’s Day, and now they have holiday pajamas and I’m sold.
Honestly, the quality is just so good so I know they can be passed down from sibling to sibling and the prints are so classic and cute that they can really wear them year-round. I went with red and white stripes for this year so that the kids could wear them all year round and I just love the classic pattern and color. While I couldn’t get the whole family in this photo shoot, I am excited for us to all wear our red stripes this Christmas, and grateful that Charlotte is still willing to be my mini me.
