Okay, this is probably the last room we’re going to tackle in the house, and down the road it needs a gut renovation, but I’m excited to freshen up powder room in the meantime, so I’ve started pulling powder room inspiration. I think powder rooms are so much fun because you can go crazy with wallpaper and pretty design details. They’re smaller than typical bathrooms so you can make more of a statement and well, it’s just a fun little nook to experiment with and make really fun. You know it will get seen so your work won’t go to waste, since it’s the bathroom every guest who ever comes over, from the electrician to your neighbors and friends use. With that said, ours gets a lot of use from the kiddos too, so I want it to feel family-friendly and not be too precious that I’ll have a meltdown if it shows a little wear and tear. I think we’re going to start with a light refresh just to make the space feel less beige and blah, and later tackle the floors and maybe replace the sink and even potentially convert it to a full bath. For now, I want new light fixtures, a new mirror, a paint job, some wallpaper, and cute artwork. I may even try my hand at painting the floors after seeing Chloe Burch and my friend Carly Cardellino paint their checkerboard floors themselves. I pulled a really diverse array of powder room inspiration and would love to hear your thoughts.
As you can see, I’m all over the place with my powder room inspiration but I think that’s half the fun, no? I am leaning towards a more pretty paper that can go on top of our beadboarding, which we’ll paint and then doing some brass fixtures, a cool mirror and a grey and white or black and white pattern on the floor. But I’m also tempted to go a little more crazy with the wallpaper and do a less feminine print. Maybe even something super moody. The possibilities feel endless, but let me know what you think of my powder room inspiration and what you vote for!
