I am still in complete denial that summer is over, dragging my feet the whole way into September. But here we are, in September. School has started. The mornings are chilly and the sun is setting earlier. Fall sports and activities have begun, Halloween candy and costumes are everywhere, and pool and beach days are numbered. For all intents and purposes, summer is over. I know it’s not technically fall for a few weeks, but once Labor Day is over, all the summer goodness is pretty much over. I know people love fall. I do too. But summer is such a magical, fleeting time that I look forward to all year long and it’s over in a flash. This year, it felt like it went by especially fast. It was a weird summer for me. I can’t exactly explain why, but it just didn’t feel like I accomplished summer if that makes sense. We enjoyed some really cool things — we went to Paris and a wedding in Chantilly, James and Charlotte really learned to swim, we got to go to the Hamptons and hang out in our favorite spot, we explored new spots – Lake Placid, the Catskills and Maine, James and Charlotte learned to ride bikes, the kids tried out different camps and I started playing tennis again, Brooks got to really share in summer fun with us, and there were sprinklers and bounce houses and gardening and we even planted our first trees at the house that will one day be huge. But idk, maybe it’s because we’re not quite settled in our new town and friendships. Maybe it’s because we didn’t spend a big chunk of time somewhere or get into a routine and instead did a big variety of things, or maybe it’s because so many big changes took place, but I don’t know, this summer just felt a bit … weird. But here we are, now in fall, and it’s time for me to start thinking of fall and my September 2023 monthly goals.
The reality is there are only a few more months until the holidays and end of year and it’s time for me to get on my resolutions and goals for the year. They’ve shifted a bit because of some big changes I’ve settled on this summer. I have so much more to share with you all, but in the meantime, here are my September 2023 monthly goals.
Double Instagram Followers: This is a crazy ambitious goal given my current growth and tbh, it feels a bit yuck to put this out there. Idk why. But I need to start putting out the things I want, and I want to invest more time into my blog and creating content that I wish was in the world and hope you all want and enjoy and in order to focus on that, I need to grow my social presence. I’m creating more content on IG since that’s really where so many people consume their content and how I can grow my blog. Growth shows the time I’m investing is worthwhile and opens opportunities for the blog and to allow me to continue doing what I’m doing and create here. So in order to do that, I need to grow. I’m going to aggressively focus on my Insta in hopes that by the end of September I can get to 20K.Let me know what you like, don’t like. Share my Reels/posts/account with friends if you like any of it and please help me reach my goal. Thank you.
Double Newsletter Subscribers: Ok, warning: there will be lots of numbers to start out my September 2023 monthly goals, but as I said, I’m going to be leaning into my blog and brand and content creation and the only way I can do that is by growing. It’s feedback that what I’m doing is resonating. I’m not creating just to create. I want to serve my audience, you. I want to help other busy moms dress for and create the lives they want to live. I want to use my experience as an editor to curate the best of everything to make your lives easier and better and a little bit chicer. I want to create content you enjoy and want to read and build a community you want to be a part of. So if people aren’t engaging with the content and subscribing and sharing, then it’s clearly not resonating or serving. My newsletter hasn’t been my biggest focus, but I’d love to grow my list.
Start Sending Two Newsletters a Week: Speaking of newsletters. I don’t want to spam y’all, but I thought I’d add a dedicated shopping newsletter to come out once a week with just shopping highlights in case you missed it in my Instagram stories roundups or LTK.
Double my LTK Following: This is a lofty goal as well, but I have been investing a lot of time creating content in my LTK and posting there, and I’d love to grow my following there. I love the app because it’s where people go to directly shop. Sometimes on Insta I feel like I’m bombarding people with links that may not care or want to shop. But on LTK, I know they’ve come there to shop or see influencer recs, so it’s a great place to share all the shopping finds, looks for less and sale finds, and all that.
Post More Thoughtfully to TikTok 2x’s a Day: I also want to do a better job at posting to TikTok and to post more thoughtfully there. My new goal is to post there twice a day and to figure out a content plan that works for there and is doable for me.
Create a Content Creation Schedule — and Stick to It: I want to get better about batching content and creating content so I’m not just rushing to get everything done. Here’s what I’m thinking:
Monday: Schedule out LTK posts for week, schedule Pins for week, write newsletters for week
Tuesday: Shoot Reels and TikToks and write blog posts for week
Wednesday: Edit Reels and TIkToks and create and schedule for week and edit all pics
Thursday: Plan content for week ahead, finish editing and writing, returns etc.
Finalize Christmas Plans: It seems so far away to include in my September 2023 monthly goals, but we’ll be going to Park City again to ski and we need to make sure all our plans are finalized now because everything books up so fast. I already booked ski school and plane tickets and all that, but I want to finalize our lift tickets and restaurant reservations and all the extras.
Book Two New Consulting Clients: I am starting to grow my consulting business (yes, I consult!) and. I want to finalize two new clients this month. It takes a bit more hustling than I usually do but I’m excited to work with some new businesses and brands. If you’re looking for someone to help with content creation and marketing and brand storytelling, hit me up!
Install Countertops: They’re happening at long last and I can’t wait to spruce up our kitchen.
Finalize Living Room Furniture: We are halfway through our living room project. Now I just want to figure. out the final pieces of furniture to add in. Probably won’t order it all right away, but want to figure out what we want so I. can start keeping my eye out.
Get Charlotte Window Treatments: I desperately need to get some window treatments for Charlotte’s room so we can block out the light. Hoping I can get on this this month.
Donate and Sell: I have so much to donate and sell in our garage and attic. I’m going to make that a priority for this month so we can clear some of the stuff we have in storage.
And that’s it for my September 2023 goals.
