I know people have mixed views about New Year’s resolutions, but I, for one, love making them. I love the idea of starting fresh and over again, and setting intentions for the year ahead. New Year’s always feels to me…
Reflections on My Birthday and What I Learned From the Hardest Year
Friday was my birthday, so this post is a few days late, but after a fun weekend celebrating with my boys, I wanted to take a minute to reflect on the previous year and my goals from the one to come. I’m not sure if I ever shared this, but I love birthdays! I love celebrating other people’s and my own. I just feel like it’s one day (or in our house, week) all about you and celebrating your life and where you’re at and going. It’s like my own personal New Year’s in many ways — a chance to reflect, reset, set goals. And since my birthday corresponds with spring, I always feel really hopeful and like it’s a time of rebirth in some ways.
My 2019 New Year’s Resolutions
I am the type who totally makes resolutions and then forgets about them a month later, beats herself up, and then does it again the next year. I can’t help it. I love the possibility of a fresh start and a new year. Even though it might seem futile or a trap just to make you feel bad, I think it’s good idea to stop and reset and reflect on what you want to accomplish. Otherwise, it’s so easy to get so crazy on the hamster wheel of life that you find another year has gone by and you aren’t any closer to achieving any of your dreams.

Happy New Year! After the highs and lows of 2017, I’ve decided to change things up this year, and to stop hoping and dreaming of things I want or want to do, and stop being jealous of other people doing…
