So usually Shoshanna is not my jam. It’s too prim or girly or something for me, but I’m obsessed with this Shoshanna LBD. Usually a black dress can feel a little basic but I have gotten so many compliments on it, including a Jackie O reference, which is reason enough for me to wear it every day. The cut is super flattering and it’s perfect for work when you want to feel like a total BOSS but also works for a party. I can see it being in heavy rotation for holiday party season as well, and honestly, with sandals, it could work into spring thanks to the white scalloped trim.
I love the rickrack scalloped trim on this Shoshanna lbd. It just makes it feel more special, ya know? And the hemline has a bit of an asymmetrical dip to it that makes it feel slightly more sexy. I also love a good long sleeve dress. I don’t know about you, but I always find it so hard to find good long sleeve dresses for the colder months. I feel like all the cutest dresses are short sleeve or sleeveless and I hate that I then have to cover them up with a sweater or jacket when it’s chilly out because they have no sleeves (and I’m always cold). So I really appreciate a great long sleeve dress when I find one, and I always try to scoop them up (one of the few items I will gladly buy not on sale because truthfully they are so few and far between).
I actually wore this Shoshanna lbd to a memorial service recently and found it worked well even with the white trim. It felt a little less dowdy and grim than your typical funeral attire but still appropriate, especially because of the cut. I share this because I just can’t emphasize enough how versatile this dress is and how it’ll be one of those staples in your closet that you’ll wear for years to come and reach for whenever you need something nice and have nothing to wear.
