What I Wore the Second Week of May 2023

Can you believe we’re a month away from the end of the school year (at least where we live)? It’s so crazy how fast time is flying right now. I’m not sure how I feel about it. On the one hand, summer is my favorite time of the year, and I’m excited to have our first summer in our new town. On the other hand, I want time to slow down,, ya know? I looked at James last night and I couldn’t believe how big he is. Life is so crazy and busy and the younger two kids require so much attention that I feel like I have become okay with him getting bigger and more self-sufficient but it’s scary how I blink and he’s so big and before I know it, I know he’ll be all grown up. I try not to think about it too much but honestly, it’s on my mind every day. As hard as this phase of motherhood is and it’s grueling at times and completely overwhelming, I don’t think I ever want to leave it behind. It feels like perhaps in some ways the most important stage of my life, or certainly the most all-consuming. I know there will be a time for my life when my every free (and not free) second isn’t spent caring for the kiddos, and in some ways I am curious to see what I can and will do then, but I also know how much people who have past this stage long for it, and I don’t want it ever to end. I guess that’s the hard dichotomy of parenthood — wanting it to be over because it’s so hard and never wanting it to end because it’s so sweet. Ugh, how bittersweet. Okay, I am officially sad, so let’s move on and try to ignore the reality of the thief that is time, and focus on fashion. Since this post was really supposed to just be what I wore the second week of May 2023, not diatribes on parenting.

This week was warm and busy and now we have a crazy weekend with my parents coming, two birthday parties (adult ones) and lots of sports and activities. I am actually feeling like I need a nap to prepare, but instead, I’m going to try to sneak in a shower and some last-minute house-cleaning before it all begins.
