What I Wore This Week (No. 167) – Closetful of Clothes

We are back from a few days away at Lake Placid for our first family vacation of August, and hit the ground running with a busy week. The kids’ camps are over and I had full intentions of spending the whole week with them, but I had some meetings and work events that I couldn’t miss, so it ended up being more of a hybrid week than I was expecting. I mentioned this before, but I’m realizing that the best way to really unplug and be all in with the family during the summer is to spend a few weeks (or whole summer if you’re lucky) away. Being at home and in the camp/work routine hasn’t felt as relaxing as I think I anticipated. It’s felt like the school year rush and been hard to set boundaries with work etc. The mornings are that same crazy rush getting everyone to camp but with more laundry and packing to do and the addition of sunscreen and pickups in different locations and all the coordination. But that’s not to say that this hasn’t been a great summer. We were in Paris, made trips to the lake, spent tons of time at the beach and the pool. The kids have done a bunch of camps they’ve loved and I’ve gotten to taken on a lot of fun projects, professionally and around the house and it’s been great. But it has been a whirlwind and instead of spending the week in my bathing suit, I got dressed quite a bit as you’ll see in my roundup of what I wore the third week of August 2023.

I am slowly trying to transition my outfits into a little less summery vibes and into looks that will take me into fall, like the off white denim skirt I wore for a day of meetings in the city and my new shorts set that I wore for a day of wfh and suburban meetings. With that said, I’m still getting lots of work out of my summer dresses, which I pretty much will be living in until it’s tights season. I’m off to host an event in the Hamptons this weekend and I’m excited to get back out there. Then a few days at home and we’re off for our next trip — checking out a resort in the Catskills that I’ve been dying to visit.
