I cannot believe we’re already into February and our first month of 2024 is done. January dragged on forever but time still feels like it’s flying by. Does that even make sense? Kind of? Anyway, here we are and I’m setting my February 2024 monthly goals and intentions. As I’ve mentioned before if you’ve been here for awhile, I like to share my monthly goals as a way to help break down my larger New Year’s resolutions and bigger five, 10 and lifetime goals. I’m very goals-orientated and I really believe the only way to achieve your dreams and create your dream life is to have a plan and work towards it. I believe it’s in our control and we’re all capable of creating the life we always wanted and imagined and well, I’m a control freak so I like to make sure it happens and work towards it each month. I felt stuck in my life for awhile, and I found that paying attention to the things that I really wanted — what other people were doing that made me jealous or that I had always envisioned helped me hone in on what I wanted. But that also felt overwhelming — like how would I get there. So I started breaking down my larger vision into attainable goals. I am a big proponent of starting right now, where you are and taking steps, because the momentum you build will help get you there, but sitting there and waiting for the moment or plotting and planning to make it perfect will hold you back (and this is coming from someone who did the latter for a long time). But really, the most important thing is to start (and never give up), so that’s why I set monthly goals. I share them to help hold me accountable and to hopefully, inspire you. And I’ve always thought of this blog as a journal in addition to being a resource to help busy women achieve their dreams and live their best, most stylish lives.
So all this is to say, I set some big goals for this year in January, and even though we were still away for the first part of January and there was not a lot of school and a lot of snow and cold and sickness, I feel like I got a good start on building momentum for a big 2024, and I want you to do the same. So let’s set our monthly goals together and work on them as a team. Here are my February 2024 monthly goals. Now please share yours in the comments and let’s all hold each other accountable.
Finish the Big Parts of the Living Room: Oh my gosh. We have made major strides to decorating and furnishing our living room and I couldn’t be happier. As I’ve mentioned, it’s my favorite room in the house, and I felt like having furniture there would be the key to encouraging us to entertain more, something I really wanted to do when I bought the house. We finally have a couch in place, a layout set, and throw pillows and fabrics selected (thanks to my dear and talented friend Anna Burke). This month, I want to:
- Order lamps
- Get a rug selected and ordered
- Decide on artwork (even if it’s temporary while we wait to collect the perfect pieces) for above the couch and above the mantel.
- Decide whether to replace or reupholster our big side chair
After that, we need to invest in curtains and side chairs, but we’re also doing ten billion projects at once, so I think that’s a good plan for that room.
Choose a New Stair Runner: Our front staircase runner is not cute. Really note cute. They had just installed it before we bought it, so I have dragged my feet on replacing it, but it’s the entrance to our house and ew. I want to choose a new one to replace it this month and maybe even get it installed, but at least choosing a new one will get that project ball rolling.
Reupholster or Replace Family Room Chairs: Our family room is really starting to come together and doesn’t need a ton more than the dressing (all the accessories). I’m not rushing to choose those since Brooks is so destructive right now and the room has become a favorite place to play football and basketball despite having a separate playroom… sigh. But there’s a lot of solid blue in the room and I really want to get another print in there through the side chairs flanking the cabinet in the space. Now I just have to evaluate if it makes more sense to reupholster the chairs or to get new ones.
Set Up a Better Childcare Situation: This is top of list for my February 2024 monthly goals. I have not had a great childcare situation in place since our last nanny moved back home. I’m not going into the office in the city every day anymore, so I don’t need or want the same setup as we had in the past, but Brooks is no longer napping twice a day and he’s not in school yet, so he requires more time and focus. I’m burning the candle at both ends trying to work and watch and manage all the kids stuff and nearly losing my mind, especially since it’s pretty impossible to do anything while watching Brooks these days, so I’m making this a priority to figure out this month.
Make Everything I Share Add Value: Social media takes so much of our time and attention. I really want to focus on creating content that adds value and serves my audience. With every idea I have and post I share, I want to ask myself, how does this help make her life easier, help her achieve her dreams and help her live her best, most stylish life?
Post 2x’s/Day to TikTok: I’ve been good about posting every day to TikTok, which I’m excited about after a year of not doing so well, but now I really want to up my cadence. I’m not going to pressure myself to jump on trends and come up with creative ideas. For now, I just want to create more content there, and then as I have more time (see childcare above) and gain more insights into what works there/doesn’t for me and my audience, set forth more of a strategy.
Exceed Affiliate Marketing Benchmarks: One arm of my business is affiliate marketing, which helps to fund my blog and Instagram and TikTok and all the time I spent creating content on those platforms. My goal this month is to surpass the goals I’ve set forth for growth on each of the affiliate platforms and programs I use.
Fix One SEO Post a Day on Blog: My site has so much potential to grow but a lot of the older posts need some work on the SEO front. It feels overwhelming how much work needs to be done, so I’m breaking it down to fixing just one post her day.
Post to Pinterest Daily: I’m rediscovering my love for Pinterest and the platform as a tool for generating traffic to my site. I find if I don’t set a numeric goal and add to my to-do list, it doesn’t get done. My goal is to create a new pin and to pin from my site every day.
Move My Body Daily: This is one I will put on the list every day, but something I’m trying to prioritize this year.
Eat 3 Balanced Meals a Day: I have always been a pretty healthy eater and lately, I’ve gone off the rails. I think it’s trying to balance work and kids and just having no time to sit down and eat let alone make myself a proper meal. But I can see it in my energy and skin and general mood. So for my February 2024 monthly goals, I am going to make a real effort to meal plan and sit down and eat my meals.
Meal Plan: This is key in order to eat better and to achieve another goal, which is to make better meals for my family and diversify my cooking repertoire. I want to plan out our meals each week, so breakfast and dinners are more thought out and nutritious.
Map Out IG Live Series: I have a new IG live series that I want to launch in March called Mom Math, where I will interview amazing moms I admire and go into the nitty gritty of how exactly they’re making it work and juggling all the balls, from the schedules and tricks they use to the help they rely on to the things that they’re opting out of. I think it can be really helpful and is something I’ve always wanted to see but I need to start booking the lives and just get going.
Book Spring Break: I need a beach. Where should we go?
Make Anniversary Plan: We are somehow coming up on our 10-year anniversary and have nothing planned. What should we do?
Plan Brooks’ Birthday: How is my little man going to be two?!
Figure Out Summer Plans: Summer will be here before we know it. I need to figure out the big adventure we’re going to have.
Be More Silly with the Kids: I really want to prioritize this for my February 2024 monthly goals. I know how much the kids love it and how much happier ti would make me as a parent.
