While I wish I could say that we’re just going to recreate the dining room from our last home, anyone who knows me, knows that’s just not the case. I like to move and start completely fresh (I know, not very cost effective), and so I’m already pulling all new dining room design inspiration for our new home. When it comes to interior design, I love experimenting with different colors and styles and inspiration each time we move or sometimes multiple times within the same home. I just can’t help myself. I’m trying to get better about investing in some quality pieces we can bring from home to home, but I have a feeling a storage unit for all the furniture I want to swap out but don’t want to sell is in our future. In our new home, we have a formal dining room that is off the front hallway so it’s one of the first rooms you see if you come in through the front door, so I want it to make a statement, so I’ve been doing a lot of Pinterest searches for formal dining room design inspiration. Since we have an eat-in kitchen and family room, this space can go a little more formal. It’ll be used for entertaining, which I hope to do a lot of. But I also want to love it so much that I do work from here some days as well.
I really want to invest in a pretty wallpaper for this room and a cool modern bubble chandelier to offset the more formal paper. I am leaning toward a vintage table in here, after seeing one at a consignment story in the area. Andrew thinks the table is old and dumpy but it’s caught my heart and I think will at least be a good place holder so we have somewhere to sit until we figure out the paper and maybe invest in something nicer and more forever down the road. I love the idea of pairing with these chairs, and ordering them in a custom fabric. But I may start by getting these bamboo chairs so we have somewhere to sit for the many months it’ll take to make them, and I know I will use the bamboo chairs elsewhere in the house or for extra seating if we need. Plus, aren’t they chic for the price point? I love this wallpaper and this one too. What do you think? I’m going to hold off on a rug and sideboard in here to start, but that will eventually be part of the plan too, as will new window treatments (although I like the curtain rods the previous owners left).
Take a look at my formal dining room design inspiration and see what you think. Should I go with the blue and white schema? Which is your favorite paper?
