I’m as shocked as you probably will be by this statement, but jumpsuits are officially my favorite maternity outfit (other than maybe maxi dresses). For some reason, you just look so darn cute in a jumpsuit when you have a bump. And people can’t help but tell you that, which, of course, makes you feel amazing even when you’re feeling bloated, swollen, and enormous. There’s also the fact that maternity jumpsuits make for easy dressing and are so much comfortable than pants. Still, I get lots of questions about how to wear a jumpsuit while pregnant, which I totally get. Jumpsuits can feel tricky enough without adding a bump to the equation.
I like to think of a jumpsuit like a dress. It’s one and done dressing. All you need to do is add shoes and you’re good. What’s tricky about wearing a jumpsuit, especially when pregnant is finding the right fit that’s both comfortable and flattering. There’s not really a one size fits all silhouette for everyone, but when I have a bump, I like to look for a jumpsuit that has some waist definition that will hit above my bump like this one does thanks to its built-in belt/tie. So really the answer to how to wear a jumpsuit while pregnant is to find one that fits well and that you feel comfortable in, add shoes, and you’re done.
There are many advantages to wearing a jumpsuit when pregnant. My office gets really cold and sometimes I just feel like having the coverage of pants, but at the later stages of my pregnancy, I’d just rather throw on a jumpsuit that’s looser and more comfy than maternity jeans or pants. I also love that jumpsuits can be great for hiding a bump in early stages of pregnancy before you’re ready to tell anyone. I did get away with wearing regular jumpsuits for awhile while hiding my pregnancy during those early months, but after four months, I’m all about the maternity jumpsuit. They’re just so much more comfortable, especially the ones from my favorite maternity brand.
So really the answer to how to wear a jumpsuit while pregnant is to find one that fits well and that you feel comfortable in, add shoes, and you’re done. Pretty easy, right?
