I’m so excited to share another update to our home — the kids’ bathroom, which includes the adorable kids bathroom wallpaper we chose. If I were more logical and more patient, I would probably tackle all our home projects in a more sensical way, starting with the bigger spaces we use the most like the kitchen and floor plans and budgets. But no one ever accused me of being patient. And well, I lead with my eye or perhaps heart when it comes to design, or the things that I find that catch my eye and spur a project. I knew from the time we moved in that I wanted to add a little something to the kids’ bathroom. It’s one of the first things you see when you walk up the stairs, and just had so much room for potential. The bathroom had been recently renovated and was cute enough — grey walls and tile with a dark blue vanity, which matched with the shower curtain and towels and accessories we had from James’ last bathroom. But it just felt a little masculine and dreary — not as bright and playful as I felt like it could be for our young kiddos. We have lots of home projects that need to get done, and the kids’ bathroom is certainly not on the list of priorities. But I see it every day when I walk up the stairs and bathe the kids, and I knew with just a few small touches, mainly wallpaper, it could be so cute. I had the perfect Serena & Lily paper in mind, so when it went on crazy sale, I jumped at the chance to order it, fast tracking the kids bathroom update. And once you see the kids bathroom wallpaper, you’ll see why I’m not at all mad about that. It completely transformed the space.
Would I love to retile the bath/shower, replace the floors, and update some of the fixtures? Yes, but actually with the new wallpaper, I no longer mind the fixtures — I think it kind of fits the vibe. The paper and space leans a little more masculine but not so much so that it won’t work for Charlotte too for now (I think later we’ll move her to another bedroom that has its own bathroom). The pattern is bold and draws your eye up, so you don’t focus on the blah floors and just really brightens the space. I have seen the wallpaper used in a variety of spaces, and had considered it for James’ bedroom, but I really love the kids bathroom wallpaper and glad we saved it for that room. I’m hoping to add a cute roman shade and then be done with this space… for now.
