Charlotte is turning four at the end of the summer somehow and her favorite things are princesses and mermaids. Last year we went with a princess theme for her birthday, so we decided to go for a mermaid one this year. Plus, her favorite Disney princess right now is Ariel so it feels like it all works? We still have a bit of time before her big day and we’re debating what to do (summer birthdays with kids is hard), but we’re going to throw some sort of little party even if it’s just family, so I am researching mermaid birthday party inspiration as we speak. It turns out, it’s a popular theme, so I thought I’d share what I’ve found to decorate and create the mermaid birthday party of her dreams.
Luckily, there is not shortage of supplies for a mermaid themed party so I think it’s going to be fun and easy to put together a party worthy of our little mermaid. Since she’s a summer baby, I’m thinking we may do something in our backyard with a bounce house, some water games and toys, a mermaid tail decorating station, maybe some face paint and some sweets, snacks and pizza. I like to keep it low key when they’re young — like a big playdate. Otherwise, I find everyone gets overwhelmed and sometimes the little ones end up not having a great time, which defeats the purpose. We may invite a ballerina neighbor over to teach some dance moves to the kids, which may veer more into a ballet mermaid princess party territory, but I think that’s fine — all perfectly fits Charlotte’s personality and greatest loves. If you’re planning a celebration for your little one, here is the mermaid birthday party inspiration I’ve been pinning — plus, everything you need to create your own mermaid birthday party.
