We’re heading into summer, which means we’re spending as much time outside as possible. I love giving my kids plenty of time to frolick in the sun and get all that energy out. When we lived in the city, we would spend countless hours at the park. We’re lucky to have some really great parks and nature centers around us, but what I love about our new home is that we can just send the kids outside to play in the yard. We are still getting estimates to have our yard fully fenced in, which will make the space much more useable, but they’re already loving all the time outdoors playing with the kids in the neighborhood. I will say that a bouncy ball can provide hours of entertainment, and James is now old enough where he loves playing sports outside and practicing for lacrosse, hockey, basketball etc. But I also find it’s nice to have outdoor toys for kids that they can all have fun with and especially for Charlotte and now Brooks too.
Our favorite outdoor kids toys include a mix of water fun, jumping energy sappers, scooters and ride-on toys. I find the perfect afternoon outside requires a nice mix. I love breaking these out for playdates as well as birthday parties that we host at home too. The kids can play for hours and there’s a good mix of something for everyone. The only warning is that my kids are often having so much fun that they don’t want to come in for dinner or bedtime. But I think that’s exactly what summer should be when you’re a kid, right?
Here are my favorite outdoor kids toys. Let me know if there are any you love that I missed!
