“It feels like summer” — you guys know that song? Well, it’s stuck in my head and I’m not mad about it. We had the best Memorial Day weekend. The kids had Friday and Monday off, which threw me for a bit of a loop as I didn’t realize Friday wasn’t a school day, but we really made the most of our extra long weekend. We hit up the school Carnival and snuck in some rides, bounce houses and cotton candy before we got rained out, took our first dips in the pool, got a front row seat to our town’s Memorial Day parade, and mom and dad even got a night out with no kids to attend a party (and I even made it to 10pm, which these days feels like midnight). All in all, it was a really fun way to kick off summer and it was hard to transition back into our final days of school and that whole routine, but knowing it’s coming to an end, makes it easier (and of course, emotional for me because every milestone makes me teary eyed). And since the warm weather continued this week, albeit for a bit of rain, and there’s so much going on these last couple weeks of school, I forced myself to get dressed and let’s face it, I mainly put on clothes so I could share what I wore the first week of June 2022 with you. You know I do it all for you, dear reader. (Yes, I may be rewatching Bridgerton because well, I’m in need of good content — please send recs.)
While I’m looking forward to a more laidback routine that comes with summer, I am getting sad to say goodbye to spring and this school year. We have lots of changes coming on the horizon, our little man James is graduating Junior K and heading off the Kindergarten in the fall, and Charlotte will be done with 2s — it’s all happening as fast as they say it will. But for now, I’ll be savoring each moment. This weekend we don’t have too much on the agenda, a nice reprieve from the busy days ahead. Well, if not much means T-ball and soccer games, brunch, visits from friends, pool time, lobster bake, and some house hunting. But before we kick off our weekend with a post-school swim followed by a chicken finger and fries picnic, here’s what I wore the first week of June 2022.
