What I Wore the Second Week of August 2022 Closetful of Clothes

Well, we’re officially into August now, aren’t we? I know people are already gearing up for back to school and doing their fall shopping. I’ll start hopping on the bandwagon and pulling together a fall shopping list and back to school clothes for the kids for you. But I’m not ready to start dressing for fall. Listen, I know that fall is a special time of year. There’s nothing I love more than a cozy sweater. And I am sick of these heat waves. But I’m just gonna say that summer is such a short time and then we spend almost all year waiting for it, so my approach is to savor every minute of it. We’ll be freezing our butts off in no time. And while the lack of structure that the school year brings can be hard on parents, I have to say that the ability to just let the kids run outside and burn energy swimming and playing in the sand or grass or wherever outside is so much easier than trying to entertain them inside during the wintertime. I am also savoring the final months of being able to throw on a bathing suit, shorts and a tee, or a dress and run out the door without worrying about layers and coats and what goes with what boots. As you’ll see in my roundup of what I wore the second week of August 2022, this week, I really leaned into summer dressing though I’m continuing to try out different denim trends. I am generally not a jeans in summer person, but I’m still nursing and two pieces are a lot easier for me to nurse or pump on the go in. I also love the ability to throw on a cute top for Zoom calls but stay somewhat casual in jeans, and it’s nice for the AC to have covered legs.

After a somewhat stable week of camp and work and the working mom juggle, we are looking forward to a fun weekend. We have a big party for my in-laws anniversary, a couple birthday parties for the kids and lots of pool time planned. I am probably going to need your help picking out an outfit for this weekend’s festivities so maybe I’ll do a try-on on Insta stories – help me there, k?
