New year, new me. Well, same old me who has already broken all her resolutions, but a slightly refreshed style. I generally don’t try to dress towards a certain look or style. I have ADHD and I think it translates into my taste and preferences. I will be all in on grand millenial style and then want to go full-on minimalist 90s. Right now, I’m somewhere in between wanting to keep it simple and neutral and playing with patterns, colors and trends. So I guess this is all to say that you’ll be seeing a mix of styles from me in 2023, as you’ll see from my roundup of what I wore the second week of January 2023. Some bloggers are all about one set aesthetic and that works well for them. You know what you come to them for and their feeds are perfectly curated and color-coordinated. But I love playing with fashion and dressing for different moods. It’s part of my job for sure, but I also think fashion should be fun — it’s a way to express yourself, it’s armor for whatever you are facing that day, and it can change with your mood. The worst is wearing something you’re not feeling. My moods are constantly changing as is my schedule every day, so I’m constantly dressing for different things. This doesn’t necessarily help create a curated well-edited wardrobe, but I am ruthless about purging and reselling or donating after my style shifts, so my closet isn’t quite the overflowing disaster you might imagine (though it does need a serious clean-out).
Ok enough rambling. Would love to hear your style goals for this year and how I can help. I think the goal should really to make dressing easy and to dress for the life you want, and I hope to help you do that, whether it’s with the most comfy mom jeans, fabulous dress for an event, or practical workwear that helps you own that next meeting or presentation. Now it’s time for a long weekend, which I already feel like we need. We’re keeping it pretty low-key this weekend after our epic travel nightmare over Christmas but I’m excited for some adventures with the kiddos.
