What I Wore This Week (No. 222) – Closetful of Clothes

So we survived Thanksgiving and the week back after a holiday break, which is never smooth. For us, it was an extra challenge because my oldest had 1/2 days all week and we unexpectedly had no childcare. I was not prepared for such a hectic week, especially as it’s such a busy time for work and I’m hoping to get some time to just cuddle the little one before the holiday rush. But not this week. But we juggled it all and survived and even got dressed, as you’ll see from my roundup of what I wore the first week of December 2024.

To be honest, I’m opting out a lot on the holiday events and parties. I just had a baby and I’m not ready to leave her with anyone, which is probably a bit of the post-NICU trauma, but that’s where I’m at. There is so much to do for the kids and I really want to savor these days when the kids believe in all the magic of Christmas. I see how fast James is growing up and I know we only have a finite time. But I’m also not sleeping much these days and exhausted by newborn life, four kids and running my own business, so I’m giving myself grace on the social front. With that said, I’m trying to say yes when I can to also fill my cup. I forget how much I miss my girlfriends until I see them and then I realize how good it is for my soul and as a mom. So I’m trying to balance it all. I also feel like less invitations are coming in, and I wonder if it’s because I’ve opted out so much, people are being polite because I had a newborn, or as the anxiety in my head tells me (which I have to remind myself is probably not true), they don’t like me. So yeah, there’s that. But let’s focus on the fun stuff, like the fact that the weekend is here. We have a holiday stroll, a fun tradition in our town that Charlotte is performing at, and then some hockey (because of course) and then mom and dad are going out. And then it’s hockey and holiday events and kids birthdays and all the things. But first, here’s what I wore the first week of December 2024.
