The end of another cold week and I”m ready for spring, but alas, as you can see from what I wore the fourth week of January 2025, winter is still in full force here in the North East. I am not going to lie, I’m having a serious case of the winter blues. I just don’t feel like getting dressed or leaving the house. I’m pretty uninspired on the ‘gram. I’m basically phoning it in in every aspect and trying to find micro joys to keep me going. I think I would have been really in a funk pre-kids, which I sort of remember I always was in the winter, but they’re keeping me busy, I can’t just sit around and lament the cold and dark. But I’ll do it here (lol, sorry). My point in being a total Debbie Downer right now is that I haven’t felt much like getting dressed or doing anything. I also think I have a bit of postpartum hormonal unrest and uncomfortability to blame. Grace is now three months and I feel like I should be back on track and fitting in my clothes again and I’m not. I’m still breastfeeding and I know I’ll keep some of the weight on until I stop, which due to her bottle refusal is looking like never, but I doin’t know. I just really don’t feel great in my clothes, but I also feel completely unmotivated to workout and to busy and tired and ravenous to change up my diet, so we’re there. I’m not looking for pity. I know it’ll come off eventually. It took nine months blah blah. But as any postpartum mom knows, it still doesn’t make it fun to get dressed.
But getting dressed is a bit part of my job, so I’m doing my best here and I appreciate all your support as I try to figure this all out. Here’s what I wore the fourth week of January 2025.

You are being too hard on yourself. Winter sucks, you live in CT, where it REALLY sucks. And you are not seeing what we’re seeing. You look fantastic. FOUR KIDS! IN a VERY SHORT time. Lean into the staying home and being cozy for now. If you need to post, post pictures of you in loungewear or pajamas or your husband’s sweatpants. We’ll only love you more for it. -writerrobinmblack
