what I wore the first week of September 2018

I’m a little behind on these posts so this is actually what I wore last week, the unofficial last week of summer. As you can see from my roundup of what I wore the first week of September 2018, I really milked it up for all the summery clothes I could wear before everyone starts whipping out their fall clothes in honor of NYFW. If you follow me on Instagram, you know I’m in the throws of Fashion Week now, a definite perk of my job. But it’s also a lot of pressure so I spent the week before in no-brainer, easy outfits that were comfy, cool, and summery. I also took the week off and really just enjoyed the final days of summer with the fam before work gets busy, and it’s like it never happened so I leaned into breezy mom outfits. Everything had to be comfy enough for chasing around James and easy enough I didn’t have to think about it.

It’s funny. I really leaned into summery blue prints this weekend. I’m not sure I’m ready for the rich autumnal hues. I love them but I just don’t feel ready for fall. I need a few weeks more of summer. Anyone else feel that way? I always feel like Fashion Week cuts summer short and after that, it’s just hitting the ground running on fall and then holiday before we know it. Some of that is the nature of my job – we’re always looking ahead ot prep content and identify trends in advance but sometimes it robs you of the present moment and joy if that makes sense. I also don’t love having my summers cut short to return to the concrete jungle. But once I’m there, I’m so grateful. Fashion Week is such an amazing experience and I”m so grateful to be a part of it. I always have a smile on my face ear to ear the whole week. Going to shows never gets old. But two things can be true — excited for such a special (but exhausting) week and sad to see summer go.
