Yes, I’m starting my holiday gift shopping extra early this year, starting with holiday gifts for the kids. It feels impossible to plan much else for the holidays given the state of the pandemic right now, so I figure I can at least get my holiday shopping out of the way. Plus, I’m anticipating delayed shipping due to the pandemic and that opportunities to shop in person will be limited if we go into lockdown again. Also, I plan to start playing the Santa card hard to inspire good behavior (anyone else need all the bribes right now?). I’m also starting to pull together a list because family, who we sadly won’t be able to see for the holidays this year, has been reaching out asking what James wants for Christmas and what on earth to get a four year old boy for Christmas (they seem to figure Charlotte will be happy with a doll and clothes, which tbh, she totally will be).
Since Charlotte doesn’t really understand Christmas yet, I’m really focusing on finding the best Christmas gifts for four year old boys to get James anyway. Now that James is old enough to know how the whole Santa and Christmas thing works, it’s much more fun to gift shop for him. It’s also fun for me — I love thinking about how excited he’ll be to open the various toys and gifts I find while shopping. In fact, if you’re struggling to figure out what to get a four year old boy for Christmas, I like to just think about what will make him smile the most.
But really, I spend hours researching the most unique, educational, and impactful toys to figure out the best holiday toys to buy my kids. I don’t want a house full of toys that no one plays with, and I really want gifts that give back, meaning that they buy me pockets of time where I don’t have to entertain or educate my children because they are busy using their imaginations and brains with an educational toy that actually keeps them occupied. After spending hours reading the reviews, watching kids play with them on YouTube, researching toy roundups from parenting experts and bloggers, I’ve narrowed down this list to the best, most unique and educational holiday toys for four year old boys. Let me know if there’s anything missing on my list — I’m hoping to have all my shopping done by the end of Thanksgiving weekend this year!
