One of the items at the top of new home wish list was an open kitchen. I really love the idea of being able to cook or grab a snack while watching the kids eat and/or play. I am so thrilled that our new house has an open kitchen with a large breakfast room off the main kitchen area that opens into the family room. The breakfast room is actually the size of a dining room, so we’ll have plenty of room for our growing family to eat, do homework, play as I cook or wait for the takeout to arrive (lol). I think it will really encourage me to do more cooking, too. Our kitchen is in really great shape, but we’re going to do some updates to make it fit our style more. I’m going to replace the countertops and eventually the backsplash and add new pendants over the island. I’m hoping we can squeeze that project in at some point this year, but in the meantime, I have my eyes set on the eating area and have been feverishly scouring Instagram and Pinterest for breakfast room ideas.
Although I’m excited about the whole house, I can’t wait to decorate the eating room off the kitchen. It’s going to be the first room I tackle. This is partly because we don’t have a table, so I need to get on that so we can eat when we move in, and partly because I’m so excited about the space and how we’ll use it. I have also found some really cute breakfast room ideas that I’m using for my inspiration for the room. I promised I’d share more of our new house decorating and renovation journey, so I thought I’d start with the first room we’ll tackle and share the breakfast room ideas that I’m using for inspiration for the new house.
