I was never that into Valentine’s Day but over the years, I’ve become a fan. Pre-marriage and Andrew, it was once one of those angsty holidays that reminded me I was single or put weird pressure on a relationship, and in some ways, it still does. I say I don’t care what we do, don’t get me anything but I would not want to be my husband after coming home empty handed or failing to plan something on February 14th. LOL. Marriage, right? But since becoming a mom, I have developed an appreciation, and dare I say love, for Valentine’s Day. Honestly, I just like having anything to look forward to during the doldrums of winter, and after the Christmas holidays, Valentine’s Day is really all we get. Even though my kids are young, or actually, maybe because they are young, their schools and friends always make a big deal out of V-Day, so it’s fun to plan fun ways to celebrate the day of love — whether it’s baking treats, attending their class parties, picking out the valentines they’ll make/give to the class, or dressing them in red and pink. I like to get my littlest valentines treats as well, because honestly, I can’t help myself. I try to keep it in check, so nothing too big but it’s a fun excuse to surprise them with some fun treats (check out my Valentine’s Day gift guide for little kids here). And because every holiday deserves to be celebrated with festive jammies, I even found the sweetest family matching Valentine’s Day pajamas.
I totally get if you do not want to introduce another holiday/tradition with expectations into your life. For some of us, it feels like we need an entire year to recover from the holidays (especially since we know mom is really behind it all). And nobody needs another thing to add to their to-do list and feel guilty or stressed over. But if you’re a sucker like me and find yourself wanting to dress the kiddos up for every holiday until they refuse, I wanted to share these adorable family matching Valentine’s pajamas. I got them in blue so they can be passed down, but there are also pink options and they have some red ones in a fun print. I love that they don’t scream Valentine’s Day but still feel totally festive, and if mom wants to match, there are adult sizes too. I initially just thought I’d dress the kids up but of course I had to order myself matching ones too.
