It’s June and in my book that means it’s officially summer. I am so excited for the warm weather, longer days, and all that comes with it. Summer is my favorite time of year and I cannot wait to soak it all up with my little family. Usually I like to have everything planned and set in stone for our whole school break by now, but we’re still working out some of the details of our summer plans, including what we’re going to be doing in August. I want to take a trip with the family, but work and in flux camp plans delayed my planning. So figuring out our August is top of mind for my June 2023 monthly goals. But I’m also, of course, including some other big ones after feeling like I barely accomplished anything other than staying afloat during Maycember. With that said, I’m wary of over committing and scheduling myself this summer. I really want to just enjoy these next few months with the kiddos. At the same time, I also have been feeling a big push to get some of my larger personal/professional goals kickstarted. I find it helpful to break down larger ambitions into doable steps, otherwise, nothing gets done and it all feels overwhelming. So that’s what I’m doing with my June 2023 monthly goals. I am hoping that since school is still in session for the first half of the month, I can be hyper productive and then spend the last couple weeks relaxing and enjoying the kickoff to summer. Here’s to hoping this month isn’t as much of a whirlwind as May was.
Here are my June 2023 monthly goals.
Plan August Vacation: Yes, we still need to plan our August trip. I’m now hoping to find either a last minute rental somewhere on the East Coast or to just book something far-flung. I don’t know that with Andrew’s work and some of our home plans, the far-flung month away will work, but we’ll see. I’m really trying to seize the moment and make the most of life these days. Please send any recommendations for August trips for a family of five with three not-so-easy-to-travel-with little kids.
Get to 250 Posts Without SEO: I mentioned that I’m trying to update my blog’s SEO. Somehow, my recent search traffic was cut in half, so if anyone can identify any reasons why, please let me know. In the meantime, I’m working double time to make sure all my blog posts are optimized. To that end, I want to get from 400 to 250 posts (can you believe I have that much content) without seo data. I think if I break it down to 5 posts to update a day, I’ll be good.
Figure out How to Get Blog Traffic Back on Track: As I mentioned, my traffic took a huge hit end of April and I can’t tell what happened. It basically just dropped off a cliff. It may have been a website update, so I’m going to work on SEO and also look into updating my website theme and design…eek.
Post to TikTok 1x/Day: I have been pretty good about this. I really need to work on a strategy here, but while I don’t have time, I think I’m going to niche down and just post daily in the moment until I have more time.
Map Out Social and Blog Content for the Month: I know that it would really help me on social if I was less off the cuff and planned out content in advance. It’s hard to do with everything else I have on my plate, but I think just a general plan like this day I do outfits reels, this day I do a home slideshow would help. Do we like that my social media is totally random or should I put more strategy behind it?
Post Daily to Instagram Stories/Focus More on Stories: I have totally neglected my instagram stories and I need to get back on track because let’s be serious, that’s what everyone looks at the most. It also allows me to just share what I love when I think of it or see it and connect with this community more, and that’s more fun for me too. I don’t know. Lately I’ve felt weird talking to the camera or sharing, because I just ramble, but I also sort of love just talking to everyone, so I think I just need to suck it up and just do it. This is one of my big priorities for my June 2023 monthly goals.
Update Amazon Shop: Yes, I Have an Amazon shop (check it out here) and I’ve been terrible about promoting and updating it but I want to get better because I have found some really great Amazon finds I’d love to share, and like everyone else, I do an inordinate amount of shopping on Amazon.
Promote Blog More: I don’t know why I don’t do this, but I put so much effort into this platform, which is completely mine, and I need to promote it more.
Take a Step Back Before Losing My Cool With Kids: I have really tried to get better about being more playful and not yelling, but I still have work to do. I want to get better at stopping myself when I’m feeling overstimulated or overwhelmed or angry and leave the room or do something before I lose my cool. I can generally tell when it is because I’m usually stressed about work or mad at Andrew or trying to do an email or Slack or something I don’t want to forget when the kids need me, so some of it is is putting away my phone and being present or learning how to put the other stuff that’s annoying me or stressing me on another shelf when I’m with the kids.
Focus on what they’re doing good, not always correcting the kids: I really want to focus less on what they’re doing wrong and instead focus on celebrating when they’re being awesome. I usually don’t include two parenting resolutions but I am for my June 2023 monthly goals because it’s part of my larger year-long resolution to really lean into this time with my kids that I know is fleeting and work on being the best parent I can be.
Cook With Kids More: I know this will help them expand their palettes more and they love helping out. I just need to do it.
Enjoy Paris and Fully Live in the Moment: We’re going to France at the end of the month, just Andrew and I, to go to Paris and then a wedding. I am so excited but also nervous about leaving the kids, but I really want to make the most of our time there and live it up. I am starting to gather recs, so send them my way!
Grow to 12K on Instagram: I hit 10K and am thrilled and want to build on that momentum. I hate putting goals like this on here — it feels icky almost like talking about money, but why should it? I work hard to create content there and growing my brand and business shouldn’t be something I feel embarrassed by and I firmly believe you need to put out into the universe what you want. The growth will allow me more opportunities to create content here and broaden my audience for other professional goals, so it’s not frivolous or just feeding my ego. So I’m making it my top professional June 2023 monthly goals, and I am really going to focus on growth this month after getting really distracted during Maycember.
Post to Pinterest Daily: I really want to focus more on this social platform that I still love and can help offset some of the search traffic drop I mentioned. Plus, I just really love spending time on Pinterest. Do you all still use it ever?
Schedule Kitchen Countertops: It’s time to commit to new countertops and make these happen! I’d love to get them in before fall. I feel like we keep getting distracted and investing budget into other things so I really want to book this, as I know it’s going to make such an impact.
Make Living Room Design Plan: We are going to prioritize the kitchen upgrades and some wallpaper projects and fencing our yard and all that work, but I would love to get a living room design plan in place before the end of the month as something to work toward and plan so hopefully we can have a beautiful space to entertain by the holidays. Realistically, I’m not sure if that’s going to happen, as we’d need to order now, and well, I mentioned there are ten million other projects ahead of this, but I’m including just the design scheme in my June 2023 monthly goals.
And that’s it for my June 2023 monthly goals. What’s on your list this month?
