If you’ve been following along here for awhile, you know my affinity for a matching family moment. Yes, I’m that mom who loves dressing her kids up in matching clothes, and I’m not at all sorry about it. I’ll even make sure Andrew and I coordinate if we’re going somewhere special, partly to torture my husband and partly to satisfy my anal aesthetically minded self. Go ahead judge me, but don’t deny that you can’t help but say “awww” every time you see cute little kids in matching summer outfits.
And honestly, it’s a pretty practical parenting move. I have three kids who love to run around and wander off. I need to be able to spot them in a crowd or a buffet or party or backyard. Remembering what three different kids wore on any given day is more than my overloaded mind can handle, and little kids all tend to look the same from behind or afar. This is particularly important in summer when we’re running around more and at more bbqs and parties and whatnots. My kids always run off in different directions and now with Brooks on the move, we need all the extra help we can get keeping track of them. Plus, the warm-weather months are filled with photo opps so I’m always on the lookout for cute kids matching summer outfits. Now that James is getting a bit older and because we have a mix of a girl and boys of varying ages, I’ll often go for coordinating looks. But some of my favorite clothing brands, like Bella Bliss, which the kids are wearing here, have lots of kids matching summer outfits, with different styles to choose from so it works across ages and genders. Charlotte’s dress matches Brooks romper, and then James’ polo and shorts match but they feel a little more grown-up for my big boy.
