I debated if I should continue making and sharing my monthly goals during my maternity leave. Frankly, I’m still debating and TBD on that. But I decided to set and share my March 2022 monthly goals even though at nine months pregnant with my third child, it might sound a little ridiculous. The fact is I have a lot to get done before baby number three’s arrival, and I like to organize my thoughts and plans. I also want to accomplish a lot before baby comes, as I know that I’m not going to be productive in the weeks after giving birth. Even though I want to go easy on myself and allow myself time to enjoy the baby and be with my family, I also feel like I’ve had strong momentum towards my larger goals and I don’t want to lose that. With that said, I’m trying to wrap up a million big things at work before my maternity leave, plan out content on the blog for the months ahead so I can take some time off without leaving you high and dry, figure out where we’re going to live after baby arrives, and get everything squared away for the kids and our family for the summer, not to mention for next fall. My to-do list is enough, so maybe I am crazy for setting March 2022 monthly goals.
But I’m nothing if not ambitious and despite feeling huge and exhausted and wanting to take advantage of these days moments to at least attempt to get some sleep, I am going to share my March 2022 monthly goals and work as hard as I can on them up until the end. So yeah, wish me luck.
Finish getting everything ready for baby. Really, I should say start getting everything ready for the baby because I’ve done nothing. I did compile this list of things we’re getting for baby #3, so now I need to actually get on it and get those things. I need to wash the clothes, install the carseat, order some new bottles, pacis and diapers, and make sure we’re in good shape in case baby #3 arrives early like Charlotte and James.
Read one book. I am just going to keep putting this on my list until I start reading more. I’m sure that will happen after baby comes to. Hahahahah.
Spend some quality 1:1 time with each of the kids. I know that it’s going to be a hard adjustment when the baby arrives, and that at first, it’ll be hard to give the older kids as much attention as before and to steal off alone with them. So I want to get in some solo time with each kiddo before their world is turned completely upside down.
Continue exercising. I’ve been really impressed with myself for sticking to my goal of exercising at least 5 days a week. I know it’s going to make labor and postpartum easier, and even though it’s the last thing I feel like doing, I’m going to commit to doing it until the end of my pregnancy.
Book a night away with Andrew. My birthday and our anniversary are in March. We had grand plans of taking a solo trip in January, but Covid put a damper on that once again. I am bummed that we didn’t get that week alone on a beach that I’m worried will be impossible to take once we have three kids, but I am also so grateful that we our having another baby. Rather than trying to book an elaborate getaway, especially now that we’ve entered my final month of pregnancy and have a history of going early, I’m going to add just one night away with Andrew to my March 2022 monthly goals. Currently looking at getting a hotel room in the city or at one of the resorts not too far from us in Connecticut, Rhode Island or Upstate. Any recs?!
Start the search for our next home. Yep, we are going to move… after the baby arrives. It’s time to find our next fixer upper and to get serious about the hunt so we can be settled before school starts in the fall. Time to start doing my favorite thing — house hunting!
Finish purging and organizing. In anticipation of adding another human to our home and moving when we have a tiny human and two more little ones, I’m really going to focus this month on getting all of our things organized and getting rid of as much clutter as possible. I’ve been doing it slowly but surely for awhile now, but really want to kick this nesting into high gear before I’m consumed by feedings and newborn cuddles and giving my other two lots of love and attention.
Schedule out content on the blog for April and May. As part of my February goals, I plotted out blog content for my entire maternity leave and I have been working diligently to start working on those posts. For my March 2022 monthly goals, I want to get all of April and May scheduled out so that I can take some time with the baby and not feel super behind on the blog or like I’m leaving you without anything. This is going to be hard and may require more late nights than I have in me, but I’m going to try my best to get ahead of things.
Try 2 new kinds of reels. I didn’t do as much with reels last month as I had hoped, but there is always this month to get on it.
Share more/come on to stories more — at least 4-5 days a week. I made the ambitious goal of coming on stories daily in February. I didn’t get on as much as I had hoped, but I did make a strong effort. I want to have more convos with you and share more of our lives beyond my shopping recs and new blog posts. Sometimes I get embarrassed like who wants to hear me talk or I suddenly can’t think of anything to share and end up not sharing anything. Rather than putting the pressure on myself to have something super useful or valuable to share, I’m going to try to just get in the habit of coming on more and then let you guys guide me in terms of what you’re interested in seeing or hearing from me on there. But please bear with me if there’s lots of dumb babbling and embarrassing stories.
Make all the last-minute pre-baby appointments. From the dentist to a mani/pedi and haircut, I want to squeeze in all those final appointments before the baby comes and I let myself go to shit. I also need to get Dakota groomed and take her to the vet. Side note: having a dog is like having a child that never grows up. Love Dakota more than anything, but it’s a lot of work.
Book dinners with friends and the hubs. These will be harder to squeeze in at least in the first month or two with a newborn, so I want to take advantage and catch up and have fun with friends and Andrew even if I’m too tired to stay out past 9pm. I also want to try some restaurants near us that have been on my list forever.
Launch new venture, Closetful of Clothes Consign. More to come but I’m hoping to get this off the ground before baby comes.
Okay, I think that sums up my March 2022 monthly goals. Not overly ambitious, right? I mean besides finding our next place to live and launching a new venture and planning out content for almost my entire maternity leave all while doing everything I need at work and home. I’m definitely not going to go into labor early from the stress I’m putting on myself. Definitely not.
