New year, new me. Well, same old me, but new goals (and some old I want to continue working on!). Yes, I’m talking about my New Year’s resolutions 2025. Each year, I like to take a beat to set goals for the year ahead. I like to envision where I want to be in a year. What I want my life to look like in a year, but also in five and ten years. Then I organize goals that will help me get there. The resolutions are really steps I want to take to help build my dream life. I firmly believe that you create the life of your dreams, you don’t just get lucky. So if I’m going to live that life (and since we only get one shot, I’d really like to), I need to build it. And it doesn’t happen overnight. It’s a cumulation of small steps and everyday habits. Of course visions change. I achieved some of big life goals — becoming a magazine editor then editor in chief of a magazine, building a big family of four, buying a home in the suburbs, traveling to many places on my bucket list. But I have new goals and ambitions now, epecially as I enter my second act (career and maybe life wise), as you’ll see from my New Year’s resolutions 2025.
I always feel weird sharing these goals publically but my blog still feels like such an intimate space, even if there are so many of you here and following along on my socials now. I’m so grateful for this audience and what we’ve built, but it makes me feel a bit vulnerable. But that’s why we’re here, right? And I hope my New Year’s resolutions 2025 inspire you to take charge of your life and start working towards your wildest dreams, even if you aren’t a resolution person. I am proof that dreams come true, even wild ones set by a little girl from the midwest.
So without further adieu, here are my New Year’s resolutions 2025:
Book long term campaigns x2: Rather than one off partnerships, I’d like to form long term relationships with a couple of brands I really like to do an ongoing, maybe even year-long campaign.
Book Larger Campaigns: On the same note, this was the first year I started to monetize my content in order to make it my job and to bring you all the content I do on all the platforms each day. I think I undersold myself to start as I was learning as I went and probably in disbelief that I was getting paid to do something I love and promote brands I love. But this year, I want to really practice what I preach and charge my worth.
Grow Instagram Following: This always feels weird to say out loud, but I want to put it out into the universe to happen. I have grown this community beyond what I thought possible, and I want to continue to grow and help women live their best, most stylish lives. I want to grow what I put out here on this platform and what we can do with it. To that end, I’d like to grow my following on instagram. I feel weird saying a number (what does it even mean?) and worried I won’t meet it, but I’m determined to grow and I don’t think that its bad to be ambitious or set goals.
Grow TikTok followers: I’ve long ignored my TikTok because who knows if it will be here for long, but for 2025, I’d like to grow my following there. This feels like a reasonable goal given my other priorities, but it’s also not an easy goal to hit given how hard it has gotten to grow on th eplatform.
Grow Substack and invest more time into it: I am loving Substack and want to grow my following their and what I deliver there too. Let me know what you want to see there.
Continue to Grow Blog Audience: I worked really hard to revamp my blog last year, and this year, I want to be better at updating content there, creating new content and growing that platform. I own it and I think it’s important to nurture platforms you own.
Hit Revenue Goals: I am not going to share these here, as it feels personal (I don’t ask you how much you make, you know? Even though I love when other people share their numbers, it’s just not where I feel comfortable now), but I have set high revenue goals for myself both for affiliates as well as partnerships and collaborations and consulting. I hope to not only meet these goals but to exceed them.
Spend a month away this summer: I want to spend the month of August somewhere outside of our home, getting a new perspective and change of scenery. We are thinking either Park City or Quogue. I tried to do this the last couple of years and only ended up doing small trips, so this is a big goal for me for this year.
London trip: I’ve been wanting to visit London for awhile and I am hoping to make it there for our anniversary, with or without kids.
Winter and Spring break trips: Travel is a big part of my New Year’s resolutions 2025, and to that end, I want to take the kids on an adventure for both winter and spring breaks. I want to visit places we haven’t been for both. I think we’re going to do Rancho Santana for winter break but I need ideas for summer.
Play tennis once week: I love playing tennis and have dropped it since becoming pregnant and leaving my corporate job. It’s my goal to play at least once a week this year.
Spend Christmas holidays in Park City: It takes a lot to pull off this trip, but it’s important to me that we do it every year.
Better work schedule: I want to create a better system to be more efficient in my work and better separate my personal and professional life so when I’m with the kids, I’m with them. I’m thinking I will film one day, work on blog one day, etc. but it’s hard so it may make more sense to just plan out week to week based on what I have to shoot for sponsored content, childcare, etc.
Lose the rest of the baby weight: Ugh. This is annoying and I know it took nine months to grow etc etc. but part of my job is trying on clothes and it’s hard not feeling comfortable in your body and sharing. I’m going to take it slow and I’m not planning anything drastic, but I do want to get back in shape and feel at home in my body (and clothes if I’m being honest) again.
Learn to make 10 dinners: Last year my resolution was to learn to cook. That didn’t pan out, so for my New Year’s resolutions 2025, I’d like to learn 10 dinners that I can make on rotation for my family. This feels doable and something that will make me feel like I’m nourishing my family without putting out a goal that’s unatainable.
Workout 5x’s a week: I sort of dropped the ball on working out and movement and my mental health and body feel it. I don’t put heavy goals on myself to do anything intense or drastic, but I want to incorporate some form of movement almost every day.
Finish the following home projects:
-Kids’ bath window
-Primary bedrroom – windows treatments, rug, paint
-Guest Room -wallpaper, window treatments, desk chair
-Dining room sideboard
-Living room coffee table, side tables and art for above fireplace
-Renovate primary bath
-Living room window treatments
-Dining room window treatments
-Landscaping or fence around sides of house
-Basement art
Spend more 1:1 time with kids, especially James: This is a big priority for me to figure out as part of my New Year’s resolutions 2025.
Yell less: Between pregnancy, postpartum and the chaos of raising four littles while working, I’ve yelled more than I’d like to admit. My goal is to try to go a week and then two weeks and then a month without yelling. Or maybe it’s just once a day lol, but I’m really going to focus on more deep breaths and taking breathers when I am out of patience.
Laugh and have fun wit kids more: I want to enjoy the ride as I shared in a recent IG post, and it’s really a bit focus for me in 2025, especially when it comes to the kids.
Cook more, less takeout: We’ve gotten in a bad takeout habit and it’s not healthy. I really want to save takeout for 1-2 meals on weekends and that’s it.
Work on my own anxiety and issues so I can be a more patient mom. I definitely need to work on my own anxiety and stress so that I don’t yell or try to control as much and get better at just enjoying the kiddos for who they are. I feel like I’m always rushing them and trying to get them to do stuff and I want to work on really enjoying them.
Invest in more experiences as a family. I focused on this last year, and we had some really special memories as a result. I want to continue to make this a focus this year.
Stop sweating the small stuff. This was a resolution last year, and I don’t think I did that well with it, so I’m putting it back on my list this year. I can get so worked up about so many things that really don’t matter. I want to just keep my focus on the big picture and not worry about the rest.
We have a few more specific goals that I’m writing down but not ready to share here. Some are private but I think that’s a good list to start for my New Year’s resolutions 2025. What’s on your list?
