I don’t know about you, but I’m counting down until spring break. I know there are mixed emotions about spring break once you become a parent. Let’s face it: Spring break is the best thing ever until you graduate college and realize corporate America doesn’t give you a week off every spring to travel, get some R&R and Vitamin D. And then when you become a parent with school aged children, you’re reminded that spring break exists and that you need to plan something for it because schools and daycares typically close, nannies expect vacation, and well, everyone could use a break if we’re being honest. But alas, corporate America does not understand that, making it hard for working parents who either need to take a week off or do the impossible childcare/work juggle for seven days straight. Last year, I felt that pain twice in a matter of two months as I was too pregnant to travel and tons of work to get done before mat leave for winter break and then had a newborn who couldn’t travel for spring break. This year, we’ve been so busy transitioning to a new town and just life that we weren’t going to plan a trip, but then I have been getting the travel itch and decided we needed to get away. I had some things I needed to do for work, so I decided to make a work trip a family trip and make this a really fun trip for the kids. As much as I want to sit at a beautiful beach and enjoy an amazing resort, given our kids ages and need to be constantly entertained, I decided I’d rather just lean into it and surprise them with a really fun kid-friendly getaway that I’m excited to share with you when we go. But first, I need to plan my fits of course. So many of you have asked for spring break outfits, so I thought I’d do an edit on the blog.
When planning spring break outfits, you really want to keep in mind what you have going on. Since my break will consist of kid-friendly activities and lots of beach and pool time that will be spent running after kids rather than relaxing on a lounge chair, my packing list will reflect that. With that said, I like to get dressed up when going out to eat and certain activities when on any vacation. Plus, after wearing sweaters and coats and boots for months, I’m ready to whip out some cute resort wear. So I rounded up all the pieces you need to create cute spring break outfits, no matter your destination (and travel companions).
