I’ve been on the hunt for light fall jackets, but it’s hard to commit to a new jacket when every other day it’s 80 degrees again. I’d so much rather buy a cute dress, ya know? That’s why I’m loving this creative style hack. Not only does it give you another excuse to wear that cute dress you just bought and would wear every day if you didn’t happen to see the same people at work every day, but it also means you can save on that new fall coat (or at least have another to throw into the mix). The hack? Wear your dress as a jacket. I know this style trick sounds a little wacky, so I wanted to share some tips for how to wear a dress as a jacket.
This style hack works with different types of dresses, believe it or not. You can take that shirt dress or wrap dress, unwrap or unbutton it, and toss it on over your fall layers for a light topper that’s perfect to wear to the office or all day. Or try a heavier wool dress like the one pictured here. Wear it over pants and a shirt and you have a coat that is so cute you’ll want to keep it on. I love this one for events that are still outdoors in early fall, or when you don’t want to be carrying around a heavy coat. And that’s how to wear a dress as a jacket. It really is as simple as that.
